BSF ASI martyred

JAMMU, Sept 1: A Border Security Force (BSF) ASI attained martyrdom in Pakistan firing in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district today.
Official sources said Pakistan army targeted the BSF jawan through a sniper shot when he was manning forward post in Krishna Ghati sector at 5.45 pm today, causing serious injuries to him.
The BSF soldier was given medical aid at the spot and evacuated to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
He has been identified as ASI Kamaljit Singh, 50, hailing from village Malkana in Talwadi Sato area of Bhatinda disitrict in Punjab.
Sources said he had joined BSF in 1988.
“Security forces stand in solidarity with bereaved family and remain committed to their dignity and well being,” a BSF official said.
Body of the martyr will be sent to his native town with full honours tomorrow.
