POONCH, Aug 12: 34 Border Security Force (BSF) Battalion celebrated International Youth Day at its battalion premises with zeal and enthusiasm today.
On the occasion, Commanding Officer (CO) of the Battalion Pramod Kumar Anand was the chief guest.
During the celebrations, BSF soldiers and students of the village Khaneter took active part in the essay writing competition on the topics “Role of BSF in Maintaining Peace and Harmony” and “Role of Youth in maintaining Communal Harmony”. Students also took part in the slogan writing competitions.
Large number of villagers including Panchs and Sarpanchs took part in the function. Students and BSF soldiers presented a colourful cultural programme and mesmerized the audience with their performances.
Speaking on the occasion, CO of the Battalion Pramod Kumar Anand, Deputy Commandant 34 BSF Anil Kumar and SN Sharma Deputy Commandant stressed on the need of communal harmony in the area.
They appealed to the local population to encourage the youth in positive direction to channelise their energy.
Local leaders in their speeches assured full co-operation to the BSF in future too.
