BSF foils intrusion attempt: IG

JAMMU, July 31: Inspector General of BSF, Jammu Frontier Rakesh Sharma today claimed that at least 30-40 trained militants were camping across the International Border and waiting for an opportune time to sneak inside the Indian territory.
Interacting with reporters late this evening at BSF frontier headquarters, IG BSF said late Thursday night alert BSF jawans foiled a major infiltration bid by a group of four suspected militants in Samba sector of Jammu frontier.
IG BSF said after noticing the suspicious movement of four suspected infiltrators BSF jawans illuminated the area using para bombs and challenged them. He claimed the four infiltrators ran back towards the Pak territory.
Meanwhile, commenting on the major steps taken to plug the loopholes along the International border IG BSF claimed adequate measures and steps have been taken on ground zero to ensure jawans foil any fresh infiltration bid. He said the troops are engaged in a challenging task of guarding the frontier in hostile environment especially during rainy season.
He said infiltrators often take advantage of thick vegetation and undulating terrain to sneak inside the Indian territory.
