BSF observes World Organ Donation Day

JAMMU, Aug 13: World Organ Donation Day was observed by Frontier Headquar-ters  BSF  by organising organ donation camp  here today.
This day is a reminder of the need to aware the various strata of society about importance of organ donation. Understanding the common concern and being aware of its social responsibility, BSF stands firm in its contribution to the National causes.
Organ donation camp was inaugurated by  Kamlesh Ram Awtar, president BAWA, BSF Frontier Headquarters Jammu.
During the camp, Ram  Awtar, IG BSF,  highlighted the importance of organ donation and shared  that organ donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make towards society. It is a well known fact that due to non-availability of transplantable organs, many precious lives are lost.
Dr Arvind Kohli, renowned CTVS surgeon of GMCH, Jammu, while educating the gathering, appreciated the initiative taken by BSF and rated it as a huge step for betterment of society. He conveyed  that post life organ and tissue donation shall be considered the supreme among all of social services. The huge gap between the demand of organs to the supply of it can only be fulfilled by such bold initiative as BSF has taken.
Dr KS Kumar, Commandant (Medical) BSF, who organised this  camp also expressed that organ donation is such service to the society which can not be compared with any other type of contribution to the society. Dr Kumar also stated that on initiative taken by Frontier HQ, till now more than 2500 BSF personnel  have volunteered themselves to take pledge and register them for organ donation.
This camp, for the BSF is not a one day campaign but a continuous endeavour  and contribution towards a healthy and prosperous  society.  Harminder Pal, DIG;  Hardeep Singh, DIG;  JC Singla, DIG and Rajiv Sinha, DIG along with  450 personnel attended the camp.
