BSF troops and Pakistani Rangers today exchanged small arms on the international border in R S Pura Sector here.
“Pakistani Rangers this morning at around 1157 hrs fired 22 rounds of small arms from their BoP Thathi to own Border Outpost Nawa Pind in R S Pura Sector when BSF troops were working with JCB,” official sources here said.
They said, “The work was stopped by our troops and retaliation was made by firing 11 rounds of small arms.”Sources further said, “Minutes later at around 1205 hrs, our troops observed 5/6 Pakistani Rangers along with a light motor vehicle working in front of their BoP Unche Wains around 350 meters beyond the zero line in Pak area oppositr own BoP Baqarpur in R S Pura Sector.
“BSF men warned them (Pakistanis) to stop the work but all in vain,” they said.
Official sources said, “our troops fired 11 to 12 rounds of small arms in the air towards Pak BoP Unche Wains,” adding that Pakistani Rangers had fled from the spot, leaving behind their vehicle.
