BSF School celebrates ‘Matribhasha Diwas’

JAMMU, Feb 21: To promote the usage of mother tongue among the students, BSF School Paloura celebrated Matribhasha Diwas (Mother Tongue Day) in the School campus, here today.
The purpose was to sensitize people about the need of the Mother Tongue for nation’s development and imparting proficiency in the same.
Various activities were organized which included  informative talks, speeches, translation from mother tongue Dogri to English, group songs in local languages, poster making, elocution etc to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity.
A talk in Dogri was delivered by Neelam Khajuria, TGT Hindi.
She highlighted the origin and history of Dogri language, poetry, fiction and dramatic works of different Dogri renowned poets and artists. Contribution of Dr Karan Singh was also highlighted.
Sunita Grover, HoD English translated her speech in English in order to spread awareness among the students about the need of teaching mother tongue in the schools. Students also delivered speeches in Ladakhi and Kashmiri.
Savita from Gandhi House delivered a talk on Mother Tongue is essential for the all round development of a child. Tarsem of Nehru house highlighted the growth of Dogri, Surishi of Raman House brought into light the importance of mother tongue whereas Prakshi of Tagore House highlighted the progress of mother tongue Dogri since ancient times.
