BSF seizes 5 kg heroin worth Rs 25 cr in Punjab

JALANDHAR, May 21: In a joint operation launched by the BSF and counter intelligence wing of the Punjab Police, five kg contraband suspected to be heroin was recovered from the area of Kalanaur.       According to sources, acting on a tip-off, BSF troops and officials of the counter intelligence wing conducted a joint raid in the area, adjoining Rosa post in Kalanaur block in Gurdaspur district.

During search, five packets of heroin were recovered. The value of the contraband seized is said to be Rs 25 crore in the international market. It is also learnt that the joint team had nabbed a smuggler also.

When contacted, BSF officials confirmed the seizure but were reluctant to disclose the quantity (weight) of the contraband recovered. (UNI)
