JALANDHAR: BSF troops thwarted yet another attempt of Pakistani smugglers to sneak drugs to the Indian territory by seizing six packets containing 3.800 kg heroin from near BoP Ghoga in Amritsar sector.
A BSF spokesperson said that following instructions of BSF Punjab Frontiers IG Anil Paliwal here, the troops strengthened the border domination in view of the harvesting season and heightened observation of smugglers activities on International border, the troops elevated their vigil on the border crime.
This resulted in to the recovery of the said quantity of heroin. The troops noticed an unattended iron cylindrical pipe (propeller shaft) welded at both ends in the field ahead of Border Security Fence’ on the international border.
Inspecting the iron pipe, six packets of contraband weighing 3.800 kg heroin wrapped with yellow tape were found inserted in the pipe. Value of the contraband seized is said to be Rs 14 crore in the international market. (AGENCIES)
