JALANDHAR: To enhance surveillance on Punjab border along the Indo-Pak international border in sensitive areas, smart fencing will be erected, apart from observation towers and Laser walls, a BSF official said on Tuesday.
Interacting with the mediapersons, Inspector General at BSF Punjab Frontiers Headquarters Mukul Goel said the anti-cutting and anti-climbing fence would help in curbing intrusion, smuggling of drugs and cross border criminal activities.
The system will include erection of Laser walls to keep a strict vigil on the bids of intruders to enter the Indian side, even stealthily. New observation towers will be built, besides upgrading of ambush and patrol shelters to foil bids of smuggling drugs from across the border, Mr Goel added. (AGENCIES)
