UDHAMPUR, Nov 16:  Continuing its campaign, the State unit of  Bahujan Samaj Party  today staged a massive protest demonstration and took out a rally against cancellation of reservations in promotions of  SC category employees and non-implementation of Mandal Commission report in the State.
State unit president of  the BSP, Tarsem Khullar  was leading the rally which was attended by a large number of BSP activists and members of the SC community. The rally started from Guru Ravidass temple Udhampur and then culminated with handing over of a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, for the State Governor.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Khullar informed that the Bahujan Samaj Party has demanded immediate calling of  special session of  the State Legislature for extending 77th, 81st and 85th Amendments of Constitution to J&K State so that the situation in the matters of promotion in employment arising as a result of Court orders could be negated. He further stated that the reservations for SCs, ST and Backward sections was not a charity but a matter of according representation to the people who were deprived of education and means of livelihood.
BSP Coordinator for J&K and HP, M L Tomar criticized the previous Government of Congress and National Conference for befooling the SCs, STs, OBCs by making half hearted adhoc arrangements and sitting over the matter for full tenure of six years without extending  77th, 81st and 85th Amendments to the State.   He further stated that the present BJP PDP Government was following the same policy as of the previous Government in respect of SCs, STs and OBCs. He said that BSP shall continue to espouse the cause of  backward sections and  minorities as per the principles laid down by Dr Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram.
Prominent among others who participated included Rattan Lal,  HC Thapa,  Jagdish Raj Verma,  KL Attri, Charan Dass,  BD Thappa, BL Dingra, Charanjeet Bitta and Deepak Rana.
