BSP demands security for its party president, senior leaders

JAMMU, July 6: Jammu Kashmir Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today demanded the security for its state president as well as for other leaders of the party.
In a statement issued here, the party said that the BSP has been continuously demanding from the Jammu and Kashmir government to provide security to the senior leadership of the party but till now no step has been taken by the Government in this direction.
BSP’s state president Darshan Rana said that Jammu and Kashmir is a terrorism-affected area and recently terrorist incidents have also been seen in the districts of Reasi and Kathua of Jammu division.
He said that assembly elections are going to be held soon in Jammu and Kashmir, in such a situation, the party leaders have to visit the terrorist-affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir to campaign and this is not possible without security because after the recent terrorist incidents, the situation is worrying.
“BSP is a national party and in such a situation, the Jammu and Kashmir government needs to show seriousness about providing security to the party leader,” he said.
Referring to the recent attack on BSP, state president K Armstrong in Tamil Nadu, he said that the Jammu and Kashmir government needs to protect everyone from such incidents and provide security to the party leaders.
He said, “The security has been provided to former councillors of BJP as well as some district presidents, but the BSP’s state president as well as other party leaders have not been provided security by the government yet.”
The BSP leader appealed to the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and the LG Sinha that orders should be issued to provide security to the party leaders as soon as possible.
