JAMMU, Sept 17: Bahujan Samaj Party is contesting Assembly elections being held in Jammu and Kashmir after 10 years and the party is hopeful that it will win several seats in these elections.
With the announcement of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Raja Ram and Dr Avtar Karimpuri, Incharge of Jammu & Kashmir, BSP are continuously campaigning in Jammu.
State president of the BSP Darshan Rana claimed to have campaigning and reaching out to every Assembly constituency in support of their party candidates and creating enthusiasm in them.
He claimed that he is convening several meetings with party workers and instilling enthusiasm in the workers. Experts believe that Bahujan Samaj Party is working strongly on the ground level to wave its flag in Jammu and Kashmir this time.
Darshan Raina said that party candidates have been asked to speed up the election campaign. Bahujan Samaj Party is eyeing those Assembly seats where the party candidates are very strong and the party has won in these areas or is close to victory. Sources claim that where the party had performed well in the District Development Council elections, the party is working day and night to ensure its victory.
It is pertinent to mention here that during 1996 Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party created a stir in Jammu politics by winning 4 Assembly seats. Sheikh Abdul Rahman from Bhaderwah Assembly, Sagar Chand from Kathua, Ramchandra Bhagat from RS Pura and Somnath from Samba had won. After this, in the elections held in the year 2002, the Bahujan Samaj Party was successful in winning one Assembly seat, but now in the Assembly elections of this year, the party has once again geared up and in the changed environment of Jammu and Kashmir, some big leaders of the party can reach Jammu to give momentum to the election campaign through big public meetings.
Political analysts are to be believed that Bahujan Samaj Party has entered the election fray with a different strategy in the Assembly elections and the senior leaders of the party are engaged in making strategies to ensure the victory of the party. The party is eyeing some seats of Kathua, Samba and Jammu Assembly segments.
