BSP flays Omar Govt

JAMMU, Oct 24: State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party has criticized the State Government led by Omar Abdullah for not delegating powers to Panchayats.
In a press statement issued here today, State president of the unit, Tulsi Dass Langeh criticized the Omar Abdullah led Government for having double standards in connection with the delegation of financial powers at Panchayat level. Mr Langeh said on one hand the State Government declared that Rs 10 lakh will be provided to each Panchayat in the State which shall be kept at the disposal of Sarpanchs and other Panchayat members for development but on the other hand the money is being kept on the disposal of the MLAs concerned which is against the spirit of Panchayati Raj.
The BSP leader alleged that there was strong resentment among the Sarpanchs and Panchs over the attitude of the Government. Some MLAs were dictating them terms and victimizing and Sarpanches from other parties, Mr Langeh maintained.
