JAMMU, Oct 31: A delegation of Bahujan Samaj Party leaders today visited the Pak firing affected villages and met the border dwellers facing the difficult time due to heavy shelling from across the IB.
The senior BSP leaders, including Darshan Rana, Bishan Dass Bhagat, Raja Singh, Harbans Lal and others visited Bhula Chak in Sai area of R S Pura and Arnia sectors. They visited the house of Om Prakash which was badly damaged due to heavy shelling and listened to plights of the villagers whose houses came under heavy firing during ceasefire violation on Thursday night.
Darshan Rana and Bishan Dass Bhagat, while calling the border dwellers as frontline warriors, demanded that Government should safeguard the lives and property of people living along borders as they are the first ones who face the brunt of enemy country like the case on Thursday when they were caught unaware and had to leave their homes and hearth in a hurry.
BSP demanded that the Government should immediately assess the losses and ensure compensation as soon as possible. He also reminded the Government about its promise of providing five Marla plots to border people to have safer accommodation in case of such an emergent situation.
BSP leader Raja Singh condemned Pakistan for pounding mortar shells and bullets on innocent border dwellers for no apparent reason. He termed the action by Pakistani Rangers as horrendous and ghastly. He also criticized the Government for not doing enough to safeguard the border dwellers as the bunkers which were constructed with much fanfare are proving to be useless due to poor maintenance as most of these constructions have been inundated due to rain water.
Prominent among those who met the visiting BSP leaders, included Harbans Lal, Tarsem Kumar, Raj Kumar and party workers of the areas.
