BSP warns against any move to cut reservation in J&K

KATHUA, Mar 23: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has strongly opposed any potential move by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to reduce the reservation benefits given to SC, ST and OBC communities.
Addressing a workers’ conference in Kathua, BSP National Coordinator Randhir Singh Beniwal asserted that if such a bill is introduced in the Legislative Assembly, the party will protest openly. He urged party workers to be fully prepared for the challenge and work diligently to strengthen the BSP in J&K.
The conference saw the presence of several senior BSP leaders, including Central coordinator Dr Avtar Singh Karimpuri and BSP State chief Darshan Rana. Criticizing the Omar Abdullah-led Government, Beniwal alleged that promises made in the election manifesto remain unfulfilled, while BJP and NC legislators are engaged in internal conflicts rather than addressing public issues.
Beniwal also highlighted the pressing concerns of rising inflation, unemployment, and corruption in the country, asserting that only BSP seriously raises the issues of the common people. He reiterated the party’s commitment to fight for social justice and empowerment in the region.
Dr Avtar Singh Karimpuri emphasized BSP’s strong performance in the recently concluded J&K Assembly elections. Darshan Rana briefed the leadership on various local issues, including unfulfilled promises by the Government regarding electricity bill waivers, land ownership rights, and filling vacant Government posts. Rana urged the National Coordinator to raise these concerns at the national level.
Several senior BSP leaders, including State vice president Charanjit Chargotra, State coordinator Gaurav, general secretary Shashi Bhushan Thapa and district president Tarsem Lal attended the conference along with thousands of party workers from across J&K.
