JAMMU, Jan 15: State unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today celebrated the birthday of party national president and former UP Chief Minister Kumari Mayawati (MP) here today.
The BSP activists celebrated this day as ‘Jan Kalyan Diwas’. A grand function was held at Sh Guru Ravi Dass ji Temple complex at Krishna Nagar Jammu from 10 AM onward. ML Tomer, Ex- MLC & Co-ordinator BSP for Himachal Pradesh & Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) was the chief guest on the occasion, while Tarsem Khullar president J&K unit of the party presided over the function.
A large number of party activists and members from down trodden community attended the programme. They celebrated the event with great enthusiasm. The peoples started pouring in right from early morning at the venue.
The function commenced with the lighting of traditional candle by the chief guest. The atmosphere was filled with cheers and slogans in the praise of Kumari Mayawati. To give momentum the programme BD Thappa, Sonu Heer and others sung the songs in the praise of Mayawati. The missionary songs for long stretched movement of social transformation & economics emancipation started by Bharat Rattan Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Kanshi Ram the founder of BAMCEF, DS4 & Bahujan Samaj Party were also sung on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion the speakers praised Kumari Mayawati who is leading the movement of down trodden. She became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh four times only due to the love and support of the poor and down trodden members of the society. She is always fighting for the cause for protection of rights for down trodden. She struggled in Rajya Sabha for protection of reservation in promotions & other related rights.
On this occasion the BSP leaders distributed blankets among needy and poor persons besides books and copies among needy students. Some other articles which were useful for poor people were also distributed.
Prominent among those present included Piran Ditta president All J&K Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, Rattan Lal Chargotra, Rattan Kumar Bhagat, Jagdish Verma, Rakesh Wazir, Raja Singh, Ajaib Singh Mottan, BD Thapa, BL Digra, Somnath Ex-MLA, Raj Kumar Thapa and Charan Dass.
