KATHUA, Nov 2:  State unit of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) took out a protest rally in the town here today in view of recent developments with regard to the reservation.
Led by State unit chief of the party,  Tarsem Khullar, vice president SR Majotra and ML Tomar (Ex MLC- UP), State Coordinator of  J&K and Himachal Pradesh; the BSP workers’ rally was taken out in the town. It started from the Ramlila Ground and after passing through Mukerjee Chowk and Shaheedi Chowk,  it finally  culminated with handing over of a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner, Kathua,  Ramesh Kumar for the Governor N N Vohra, in support of reservations in Jammu and Kashmir.
While speaking on the occasion, Mr Khullar said that the BSP has demanded immediate calling of special session of the State Legislature for extending 77th, 81st and 85th Amendment Acts of Constitution to Jammu and Kashmir  so that the situation in the matters of promotion in employment arising as a result of Court orders could be negated. He said some anti-quota forces are part of a greater conspiracy to deprive the underprivileged sections of their genuine rights.
He further stated that the reservation for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes was not a charity but a matter of according representation to the people who were deprived of education, means of livelihood and safety by the past system and  it was because of untiring efforts of B R Ambedkar that these sections were given their rights.  Khullar also stated that attack on reservation was depiction of Caste prejudices still prevalent in the society and RSS was vigorously trying to foment such prejudices and communal hatred.
The BSP leader criticized the previous  Cong-NC Government for  befooling the SCs, STs, OBCs by making half hearted adhoc arrangements and sitting over the matter for six years without extending  77th, 81st and 85th Amendments to the State.   The present BJP -PDP Govt was also following the same policy, he maintained.
ML Tomar and Mr Majotra also addressed the gathering and appealed the BSP workers to get ready to wage a struggle to get justice.
