Sir,
It appears strange that Department of Buddhist studies, Jammu university, demands Diploma in Pali language for admission in this Department when there is no institute for teaching Pali Language in the State. After a great struggle, B R Ambedkar revived Buddhism in India on 14 Oct, 1956. Dr Baba Sahib dreamt that Buddhism would widely be studied after its revival that is, why he wrote a book containing, The Pali Grammar, The Dictionary, Paki into English, Pali into English, Marathi, Hindi and Gujarati and it is widely read all over the world. He also wrote a book called Lord Buddha Dhamma.
But alas!, studies on Buddhism is being discouraged in Jammu University inspite of the fact that RSS minded politicians are a part of Mufti Government and RSS has decided to celebrate Dr Baba Sahib B R Ambedkar’s birth anniversary..
It is, therefore, requested to the BJP-PDP Government that the issue of admission, starting Diploma in Pali language in Jammu university, ordering the purchase of books on Baba Sahib by the Education Department be sorted out at the earliest. Besides, construction of at least one big. Buddh Vihar at the central place of Jammu province etc be started. Let the Jammuites take the feel of Buddhism also.
Yours etc…
T R Azad
