SRINAGAR, Mar 22: While the World Water Day was being observed across the globe, women in Central Kashmir’s Kawoosa village in Budgam were trekking, with utensils over their heads to fetch water from a ruptured pipeline, one kilometer away.
Aggrieved women said the village has been facing water shortage and they were compelled to leave their homes early morning, walk one kilometer, stand in a long queue to get their utensils filled with the tap water from the pipe on Gulmarg road.
The village was getting water from Tangmarg water pipeline, but as the population increased upwards more people become dependent on the line.
