NEW DELHI : The Budget session of Parliament will commence from February 23 and last till May 8.
The General Budget will be presented on February 28 while the Railway Budget and the Economic Survey would be presented on February 26 and 27, respectively.
The dates were decided at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held here today, sources said. Both the Houses of Parliament will have recess from March 28 to April 20.
The session will begin with the President’s address to the joint sitting of both the Houses.
The session will be of 75 days, and there would be 32 sittings in the first leg and 19 sittings in the second and final leg. This would be the second full fledged Budget session under the new government. The first Budget session of the Modi government was held in July just within two months of the new government assuming office.
Sources said the government on the first day would lay on the table of the Houses the statements regarding the circumstances of promulgating ordinances when the Houses begin their proceedings after the President’s address.
The legislative business would begin from February 26. (AGENCIES)
