RAJOURI, Dec 28: People from remote areas of  Budhal and Khawas today projected their issues related to electricity, water supply, non-availability of teachers in schools, ration supply, worst condition of roads before the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Hemant Sharma during ‘Public Darbar’ held at two places in the area.
The newly appointed Dy Commissioner, along with all the district officers visited this very remote area of Rajouri and held ‘Public Darbar’ at Badaal village and then at Khawas in Budhal (Kotranka), where hardly any district officer visits. Besides general public of the area, Sarpanchs and Panchs of the adjoining Panchayat Halqas, Chowkidars/ Numberdars participated in this public assembly and raised the problems being faced by the people.
The people demanded adequate supply of ration which is not available to them. They also demanded that ration be dumped there for winter months as in some areas road remains closed due to snowfall. The DC asked the Assistant Director CAPD Rajouri to take cognizance of the matter and ensure essential supplies to the public. The people pointed out that in most of the Govt schools, there was no adequate staff. In some schools, where teachers were posted, they managed their attachment at ZEO office or other places of their convenience. The children of the area were suffering badly in the absence of teaching staff.
The Sarpanchs further claimed that several `Morhas’ were without electricity and they have not been covered under RGGVY Scheme. The long power curtailments have made life of the people miserable and for many days damaged electric transformers are not replaced. The drinking water was not available in several hamlets and condition of roads was worst. Often no repair work is initiated on the roads and condition of Kotranka-Khawas road, which was constructed by R&B in 1972 onwards is still in bad shape. No Government after Sheikh Mohd Abdullah bothered to improve its condition. They also complained of poor condition of  Public Health Centres/ Dispensaries  and Veterinary hospitals.
The DC issued on the spot instructions to the concerned officers and asked them and deliver better services to the people and monitor the functioning at lower level.  He also asked the people to take benefit of horticulture related schemes as the area has great potential in Horticulture and Animal Husbandry. He directed District Horticulture Officer and Chief Animal and Sheep Husbandry Officers to organize awareness camps and provide benefit of various schemes to the locals of the area to raise their economic condition.
