In a progressive stride towards enhancing transparency and strengthening community trust, Srinagar Police has introduced a QR code-based feedback system, aptly named Bharosa-QR. This initiative reflects a growing realisation within the policing framework that citizen engagement and accountability are central to effective law enforcement in today’s world. The launch of Bharosa-QR marks a significant departure from traditional feedback mechanisms, which often failed due to bureaucratic hurdles, lack of accessibility, or public distrust. By integrating technology into its core strategy, Srinagar Police has not only simplified the process of providing feedback but also made it more inclusive. The system allows citizens to scan QR codes placed at police stations, offices, and public places such as bus stops and markets, redirecting them to a secure online portal where they can share their concerns or appreciation. Importantly, the process is anonymous, quick, and designed for universal access-characteristics that are likely to increase participation across all demographics.
Complementing this digital initiative is the launch of a dedicated WhatsApp number, enabling citizens to communicate through messages, voice notes, images, or videos. This dual-channel feedback approach is both smart and citizen-centric, catering to different levels of tech-savviness among the populace. A key feature of the initiative is the establishment of a dedicated Feedback Management Cell at the SSP Srinagar office, tasked with monitoring submissions and taking timely action. This ensures that the feedback loop is complete-not only is input collected, but it is acted upon. Moreover, recognising commendable police behaviour through this platform is an added incentive that can boost morale and reinforce ethical conduct among personnel.
However, the real measure of success will lie in its implementation. Feedback must not only be collected but also transparently acted upon. Citizens must see tangible outcomes based on their input. Equally, regular public reporting on the types of feedback received and actions taken will further bolster trust. Ultimately, Bharosa-QR is more than a tech upgrade-it’s a trust-building tool. It positions Srinagar Police as a forward-thinking institution, committed to openness, responsiveness, and genuine public partnership.
