Bukhari interacts with NLSIU Vice-Chancellor

BANGALORE, July 24: The high-level visiting delegation of J&K’s Law Ministry today held extensive deliberations with the management and faculty of NLSIU Bangalore to explore the ways and means for establishing the maiden National Law University in Jammu and Kashmir.
The State delegation is headed by Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Bukhari.
The delegation held marathon meetings with Prof (Dr) R Venkata Rao, Vice-Chancellor, NLSIU and other faculty members of the University to get first-hand information on how to go ahead with the ambitious project of having an institution of similar repute and prestige in J&K. They also interacted with the students and went around the campus to take stock of the academic and other facilities there.
Pertinently, the State Government has deputed the high level delegation to NLSIU Bangalore and NALSAR Hyderabad to study how best the proposed National Law University can be established in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Minister is accompanied by senior officers of the State’s Law Department including Law Secretary, Mohammad Ashraf Mir.
The Minister said that the objective of having a National Law University in J&K is to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge of law and legal processes to develop in the students and research scholars a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of law by developing skills in regard to advocacy, legal services, legislation and law reforms.
