Srinagar, Aug 10: The Exercise Department officials have destroyed the bung cultivation spread on 450 kanals of land in Milora village of Zainpora in Shopian district of south Kashmir.
An official told Excelsior that the destruction campaign was started a week ago and so far the bang spread on 450 kanals have been destroyed and the action would continue.
The official claimed that there has been 70 percent decrease in the cultivation of bung in south Kashmir, which is infamous for the cultivation and sale of narcotics. “There is lot of awareness among people, particularly educated class, about the ill effects of bung cultivation,” he said.
The official said that the department would take strict action against the land owners if they indulge again in the cultivation of Bung. “We have clear cut directions from Excise Commissioner to act strictly,” he added.
