JAMMU, Sept 17: On fourth day of the week-long training course for the junior scale KAS probationer batch 2015, Pradeep Dutta, J-K Bureau Chief for Times Now delivered a lecture on Media, Conflict and Democratization.
While interacting with junior scale KAS and KPS probationers he laid emphasis on crucial role played by media in shaping a healthy democracy. He gave various examples and explained how media makes people aware of various social, political and economical activities happening around the world. It is like a mirror, which shows or strives to show the bare truth and harsh realities of life.
During mind boggling session, probationers asked Dutta several questions regarding agenda setting by media, media and sensationalizing of news and neutrality of media.
Dutta explained that how often the journalist working in conflict zones have to retrieve the neutral space that gets buried somewhere under the debris of the devastation caused by ongoing conflict.
The others who have interacted with the probationers during the last few days include Dr Ashok Bhan, DGP (retd), Ajit Kumar Sahu, CEO, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, Katra, Shantmanu, Chief Electoral Officer, DIG Basant Rath and Shahid Iqbal Chowdhary, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur.
