Burglars held, stolen goods recovered

Srinagar, Sept 12: Police today said it arrested burglars from summer capital and in Baramulla district of north and recovered stolen goods worth lakhs of rupees.
A police spokesman said two burglars namely Amir Ahmed Zargar and Manzoor Ahmed Bhat were arrested by cops of police station Sadder here. “The duo was arrested on credible inputs regarding their involvement in case FIR number 149/2017 under Section 454, 380 RPC, after a hot chase on highway when they were trying to flee,” he said.
The spokesman said that on their disclosure, the stolen property including golden ornaments (gold biscuit -3 golden pounds – 1 bracelet -01, golden chains -03, golden rings 3, ear ring 1 Pair,) worth Rs. 10 lakh have been recovered. Besides this, toy pistols -2, sharp edged weapons – 2 and a wheel wrench were also recovered from the duo, he said.
“These tools were used in house breaking and threatening the inmates. Thus, the case has been solved,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the police said that it solved a burglary case within 72 hours and recovered 53 stolen mobile phones in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police spokesman said that a complaint was lodged by Rafi Jabbar Mir of Delina area of Baramulla wherein he stated that some unknown burglars had entered into his electronics shop at Delina and had stolen a large number of mobile phones. “Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR number 155/2017 under Section 457, 380 RPC was registered and investigation started,” he said.
The spokesman said that during the course of investigation, several suspects were rounded up and strenuous efforts were made to recover the stolen mobile phones. “Two suspects namely Altaf Ahmad Bhat and Zahoor Ahmad revealed during questioning that they had stolen the mobile phones and upon their disclosure 53 stolen mobile phones of different models were recovered. Further questioning of the accused persons is going on,” he said.
