Burglary case solved, stolen gold recovered

JAMMU, Feb 29: Police in Gandhi Nagar area today claimed to have solved a burglary case by arresting a thief besides recovering from his possession 12 tolas of gold stolen from a jewellery shop worth around Rs 9 lakh.
A police spokesperson said that on February 25th, 2024, one Bhavish Mehta son of Mohinder Pal Mehta of House number 162, Reshamghar Colony, Jammu, lodged a written complaint with Gandhi Nagar Police Station, stating therein theft of jewellery from his shop, Talla Jewellers, at Auqaf Complex, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 44/2024 Under Section 381 IPC was registered and investigation set into motion.
During investigation, the police officer said that as per the contents of the FIR, one alleged thief Viney Kumar Chouhan of Geeta Colony Jalandhar, a servant of the complainant got arrested.
During sustained questioning, he said, the suspect confessed to his involvement in the crime and on his disclosure, stolen 12 tolas of gold worth Rs 9 lakh was recovered from Muthoot Finance Company Jalandhar, Punjab by the Investigation Officer (IO) ASI Satpaul Sharma and his team.
