Burglary cases worked out, 5 arrested

SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Police have cracked many burglary cases in the Budgam district and arrested five burglars including three non-locals. Some of the stolen goods have also been recovered from them.
“A team headed by SDPO Charar-i-Sharief, Shalinder Mishra arrested three burglars namely Nizamudeen alias Kalta alias Choomantar, Shamim and Chatoo all residents of Bengal. On their sustained questioning, police recovered 30 mobile sets, one motor cycle, huge quantity of iron bars and copper utensils worth lakhs of rupees. The trio formed a gang and are believed to be involved in many burglary cases in Budgam and Srinagar districts,” said a police spokesman.
The spokesman said that with the arrest of the gang police have solved the cases under FIR numbers 223/2012, 243/2012 and 05/2013 of Police Station Chadoora and case FIR No.140/2012 of Police Station Charar-i-Sharief.
The spokesman said that Budgam police also solved another case of burglary in which gold jewelry worth lakhs was stolen.
On October 18, 2012 burglars had decamped with golden ornaments worth lakhs of rupees in broad day light from the house of Tauseef Ahmad Khan resident of Wahadatpora. During the investigation it transpired that Manzoor Ahmad Kumar alias Jumkral, son of Salam resident of Sheikhpora Budgam and Mohammad Altaf Bhat alias Alla Chore resident of Drigam Khansahib were involved in the commission of crime. Police raided many places and nabbed the culprits. Stolen gold ornaments were also recovered on their disclosure.
