Burhan Wani’s killing : Karvan-e-Aman bus cancelled yet again

SRINAGAR : The weekly service of Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) has been cancelled for the second successive week today.
The bus service, ferrying families divided in 1947 due to partition, has been cancelled for security reasons, official sources told UNI.
They said the decision was taken after authorities from Pakistan and this side agreed, keeping in view the security of the passengers. Those who were scheduled to travel in the bus will be accommodated in the next bus, they said.
While last week, the cross-Line of Control (LoC) bus service was suspended in view of Eid-ul-Fitr, it was cancelled today for security reasons due to turmoil in the Kashmir valley, where a two-day strike called by separatists against the killing of civilians in security force firing will end today.
However, on Saturday, the separatists, including both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) called the strike against the death of Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) top commander Burhan Wani and two of his associates in an encounter with security forces in Kokernag in Anantnag on Friday evening.
The bus service, introduced on April 7, 2005 after India and Pakistan governments agreed to allow the travel of divided families on ” Travel Permits” instead of International passports, has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other. (AGENCIES)
