KATHUA, Apr 10: When entire nation is busy in its fight against the dreaded COVID-19 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought cooperation of every country men in his fight against the Pandemic, following his call Panchayat Burthian in tehsil Basholi of Kathua district has come with a novel idea of saving food for needy by skipping one time meal daily.
To fight against dreaded Coronavirus and support the country with their contribution, the Panchayat Burthian held a special meeting of its members today in which a resolution was passed and it was decide to skip one time meal by every person of Panchayat and save it for needy people so that they may not sleep hungry.
The resolution was passed in Panchayat meeting led by Sarpanch, Shiv Dev Singh. The decision taken by Panchayat was widely appreciated by people of Panchayat and they started saving the food for needy people. The Sarpanch Shiv Dev Singh said that the Panchayat has a population of 2500 souls and resolution is not implemented on pregnant women, children, old persons and sick persons.
He said that in the fight against Corona virus everyone in the country is doing his bit to bring the nation out of the crisis in his own way as doctors have become Corona warriors and paramilitary forces are implementing the lockdown. “We have also decided to add our contribution and start skipping of breakfast every day to save food for needy people,. We are taking only two time food and if required in future we must adopt weekly fast policy as our Ex Prime Minister, Lal Bhadhur Shastri declared weekly fast when the country was in crisis’’.
He also appealed to other Panchayat to follow the same and save food to save nation as UT of J&K has 4000 Panchyat members and our country has 250000 Panchayat . “We can save tonnes of food in a day which may help the country to fight against Corona virus and encourage our Prime Minister to go and take all steps to arrange better medicare facilities for the people of nation. On the occasion Panchayat members, Shiv Kumar, Jyoti Kumari, Babu Singh ,Radha Kumari , Baldev Raj , Inderjit Singh and Kamla Devi were also present.
