JAMMU, Sept 22: Sub Judge Ramnagar Renu Dogra has convicted and sentenced a bus driver to imprisonment and fine under various provisions of RPC.
The bus driver Jasbir Singh alias Sonu son of Laaj Singh R/o Joffar, Ramnagar was sentenced to two years imprisonment and Rs 2000 fine under Section 304-A RPC, six months imprisonment and Rs 1000 fine under Section 338 RPC, one month imprisonment and Rs 500 fine under Section 337 RPC and two months imprisonment and Rs 1000 fine under Section 279 RPC.
All sentences will run concurrently. In case of default in payment of fine, the accused will undergo additional imprisonment of two months.
Accused was involved in bus accident at Padraka Morh, Ramnagar due to negligent driving on July 15, 2010 in which a woman Savitri Devi was killed and many others were injured. Ramnagar police had presented challan of the case on October 18, 2010. The court examined 35 witnesses in the case.
