JAMMU, June 4: Three days business workshop on Homestay Capacity Building for interested stakeholders and intending local entrepreneurs, organized by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu, concluded today at TRC Jammu.
The first of its kind workshop intended to sensitize the participants regarding various aspects of Homestay business and skill enhancement of participating stakeholders in this regard. The concluding ceremony was presided over by Secretary to the Government, Tourism Department J&K, Syed Abid Rasheed Shah as the chief guest and was also graced by Baldev Prakash, MD & CEO J&K Bank.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah stressed upon the need to organize more workshops and exposure interactions for the interested Homestay stakeholders. He also appealed to the participants to keep themselves updated about technological advancements, adapt sustainable practices, focus on socio-cultural tourism aspects and take benefit from various Government schemes like various Banking schemes among others.
He also assured that the Tourism Department shall provide all assistance to all interested stakeholders and youth volunteers for establishing their own Homestay enterprises.
While addressing the participants, Baldev Prakash MD & CEO J&K Bank assured that the J&K Bank is committed to support all budding enterprises and shall afford all assistance to the young entrepreneurs especially interested Homestay stakeholders.
Director LEAD, Manish Ahluwalia highlighted the need for continued engagement and collaboration to attract tourists from different parts of the country in Jammu region. He emphasized the importance of creating tourism cooperatives to foster collective efforts in developing a robust tourism ecosystem in the region.
Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekanand Rai, highlighted the tourism potential of Jammu region vis-à-vis Rural Tourism, Heritage Tourism, Experiential Tourism and Leisure Tourism. He hoped that the participants shall grow to bigger numbers in the near future and Jammu region shall soon witness cluster tourism development.
In her detailed presentation, the Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Sunaina Sharma Mehta sensitized the participants with various procedural aspects of Homestay Registration Policy of Tourism Department.
Among others present during the workshop, included Amarjeet Singh, Special Secretary Tourism Department J&K; Sachin Dev, Additional Secretary Tourism Department J&K; Rajesh Gupta, Director LEAD; CA Rajeev Gupta, Board Member & Secretary LEAD; Dr Umesh Shan, Deputy Director Tourism Jammu; Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Director Tourism (Publicity) Jammu; Neha Mahajan, Deputy Director Tourism (Planning); Amit Sharma, Deputy Director Tourism (M&W), GM JKTDC; Sham Abrol, Ambika Bali, Assistant Director Tourism Katra and other officials of the Tourism Department.
