RAJOURI, June 3: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Teachers Association (BUTA) has strongly backed the idea of affiliating proposed Government Medical College Rajouri (GMCR) with Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and constructing it in the University campus.
In a meeting, the matter of Medical College was discussed and it was unanimously decided by the teachers to support the cause and back it strongly and press for so that Government affiliates this college with this University.
Speaking in the meeting Mir Aijaz, president BUTA said that BGSBU is stake holder of Medical College because the University was first to propose it in BGSBU. He said that the University is also running a full fledged Engineering College with great success and University can also manage a Medical College in the campus. He said that Chancellor of BGSBU and CM Omar Abdullah should think on the idea and should take necessary measures for the development of the University. Mir Aijaz said that people of Rajouri and Poonch in general and BGSBU teachers in particular are extremely thankful to Government of India for sanctioning a Medical college for this far flung Himalayan belt. And establishing this Medical College in the BGSBU will immensely help in rapid development of this college as well as the BGSBU, he added.
BUTA supported the efforts made by its senior most members Professor Mohammed Asghar, who has written an appeal to CM alongwith its rationale that BGSBU is best suitable place for establishment of this Medical College, which has 7500 kanals of land yet to be developed, ambient atmosphere away from city hustle bustle, decongested road, and chances of funding from various Central Govt Agencies etc as BGSB University is UGC approved and funded.
