JAMMU, June 27: Taushi Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP), J&K Prant, commemorated the 103rd Birth Anniversary of Dr Suraj Prakash, founder of the organisation, with a “Sewa and Sanskar” event held at Bal Niketan (Ved Mandir) Jammu today.
The occasion was marked by a series of motivational talks aimed at fostering values and self-esteem among students, while also raising awareness about environmental conservation.
Dev Raj Sharma, National Chairman (Environment), Bharat Vikas Parishad, delivered a keynote address stressing the critical need for collective action to conserve the planet’s environment.
He emphasized individual responsibilities such as water conservation and planting a minimum of 10 trees per person to mitigate the escalating threat of global warming.
Highlighting the Foundation fortnight celebrations from June 27 to July 10, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, President of J&K Prant, Bharat Vikas Parishad, announced various Sewa programs across branches, culminating in the Foundation Day on July 10.
Ajay Khajuria JKAS (Retd), President of Taushi Branch, Bharat Vikas Parishad, welcomed attendees by outlining Dr Suraj Prakash’s legacy and the organization’s current initiatives.
He encouraged students to harness their potential through focus and perseverance to achieve success in life.
The event featured a poetic composition by Om Prakash Bhuria aimed at deepening students’ understanding of environmental stewardship. Other notable speakers included Suresh Gupta and Amita Sharma from Ved Mandir Bal Niketan Committee.
Kuldesh Sharma, Sewa Pramukh of Taushi branch, Bharat Vikas Parishad, delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions made towards providing healthy diets for students.
The program was coordinated by Kamni Kesar, Samparak Pramukh of Taushi branch.
Prominent personalities present included Shashi Sharma, Manager of Ved Mandir Bal Niketan, Ravinder Jamwal JKAS (Retd), Print/TV& PR Pramukh, and Chander Mohan Sharma, Sanskar Pramukh, among others.
