JAMMU, Aug 22: A cab driver from Kot Bhalwal, Jammu District, has been missing since August 19, 2024, after last being seen in the Nagrota area.
Mangal Singh, son of Gardham Singh of Chak Seri, Kot Bhalwal, was reportedly on his way from Katra to drop off pilgrims at Jammu Railway Station when his phone went off near Nagrota on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
Since then, his family has been unable to contact him.
Angry over the police’s alleged failure to trace the missing driver, members of the Taxi Union staged a protest at Railway Station Jammu.
They expressed fears that Singh may have been kidnapped, citing similar incidents in the past, and demanded that authorities intensify efforts to locate him and his vehicle.
The union also called for harsher punishments for those responsible and increased police checks on vehicles entering and exiting the Union Territory.
