SRINAGAR: The State Cabinet tonight approved the submission of the report, by an expert committee for grant of Schedule Tribe (ST) status to the Pahari speaking people of the State, which will now be submitted to the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
An official spokesperson here tonight said the Cabinet, which met here today under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, considered and approved the submission of Report of the Committee of Experts, constituted to study the ‘Socio-Economic Status and Common Ethnic Characteristics of Pahari Speaking People in Jammu and Kashmir’ to the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs for grant of ST status to Pahari speaking people of the State.
