The blue print of 30-crore rupees Jammu Cable Car Project was prepared in 1995. It is seventeen years that the State Government has not been able to obtain clearance from the Wild Life Department. How much more time will it take, nobody can predict. The simple reason is Government’s apathy and non-seriousness. Jammu, a city with huge pilgrim-tourists’ inflow, its cable car project has better scope of generating revenue than the Gulmarg cable car that earned 7 crore this year. All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association had also flayed the inordinate delay being caused in implementation of the rope way project between Mubarak Mandi and Bahu-Fort. In the District Development Board meeting of Jammu District in 2010-11, the Chief Minister had said that the Jammu Cable Car project would start soon. In reply to a question in the Assembly the other day, Tourism Minister conceded that the project was pending owing to non receipt of clearance from the Wild Life department. Thus Jammuites have to wait till the Wild Life Department finds itself in a mood to grant clearance to the project.
