SAMBA, Sept 17: The protest of the local workers of Cadila Industrial Unit located in the first phase of Samba Industrial Growth Centre Samba continued for the 5th day today.
The workers are accusing the Unit Management Committee of harassment. Varinder Sambyal, who is leading the protest, said that the Unit Manager is forcefully sacking the workers. One and a half years ago also, they had shown the way out to 17 workers and along with this, notices were issued to sack many more workers as well. “But we all together protested strongly against the Unit Management Committee, then this process stopped, but now again they have started targeting the local workers one by one”, he added.
He said along with this, there has been no increase in the salary of the workers for the last several years, the workers are not given leave, the workers and laborers are constantly harassed by the Unit Management Committee, which has no hearing anywhere. Apart from this, there are many such issues due to which the local workers feel harassed, he added.
He said, “We are only demanding our rights which we should get as per the law”. He also warned that the members of the Unit Management Committee should solve this matter as soon as possible otherwise workers will come on the streets. On this occasion, workers including Ashwani Kumar and Anil Chandel were also present.
