JAMMU, Sept 27: The Confederation of All India Traders Federation (CAIT) today slammed the opposition parties for their frequent jibes against Maharaja Hari Singh, the erstwhile ruler of Jammu and Kashmir.
A meeting in this regard held under the stewardship of Neeraj Anand discussed the current political situation in Jammu and Kashmir and expressed concern over the political tactics of the opposition parties, accusing them of targeting Maharaja Hari Singh for petty political gains.
The meeting particularly resented recent remarks made by the opposition leaders during different rallies, where they claimed their Government ousted the Maharaja to establish a political Government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Referring to the opposition, the CAIT President, Neeraj Anand, said it was inappropriate for them to attack Maharaja Hari Singh Bahadur merely to gain public support as according to him, it was Maharaja Hari Singh, who signed the Instrument of Accession to integrate Jammu and Kashmir with the great Nation of India.
“Maharaja’s disrespect won’t be tolerated by the nationalist people of the Jammu region and the Union Territory as a whole,” Anand said.
The CAIT President also expressed strong support for the Central Government’s decision to revoke Articles 370 and 35-A on August 5, 2019.
Meanwhile, Anand noted that the region has seen a new era of peace and stability after the abrogation of Article 370, particularly in the Kashmir valley, with improved law and order situation and a surge in tourism.
He, however, urged the Government to provide financial relief to the business community, which he said, has suffered significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been suffering continuously since then.
He called for welfare measures and incentives to aid the recovery of businesses in Jammu and Kashmir.
He expressed hope for peaceful elections in the third phase in both the regions, which would help restore trust, especially among the business community.
Prominent business leaders those who attended the meeting are Raman Gupta, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Dinesh Gupta,Tushar Mahajan, Parag Abrol, Ajay Gupta among others.
