KATHUA, Jan 19: What can be more callousness of hospital staff towards the patients that a pregnant Gujjar woman gave a birth to a child in the OPD of the district Hospital Kathua as the doctors and staff instead of seeing the urgency of the case wasted her time in fulfilling formalities by getting the hospital ticket etc.
As per reports Jameela Begum of Dani Wasta in Basohli who was pregnant had visited District Hospital Kathua for delivery of the baby. The lady was crying with labour pain but the concerned staff and doctors instead of taking her in labour room for delivery of the baby as she was crying in pain and was about to deliver the child asked her attendants to first complete the hospital formalities in which they lost some time with the result the lady delivered the child on the floor of OPD in DH Kathua without any assistance by hospital staff and doctors.
The ladies who had come for medical check up in OPD of the Hospital covered the poor lady till she gave birth to the child on the floor. The people have taken serious exception to the negligence of Hospital staff. They said on the one hand government is spending huge amount on mother -child care scheme and daily advertisements are given in electronic and print media while on ground the situation is different.
Terming it a grave issue people said that administration should take cognizance of the matter and take action against the concerned doctors and staff.
