Campaigning ends for fourth phase of elections on 15 seats in J’khand

RANCHI : Campaigning today came to and for the fourth phase of elections in the state polling during which is scheduled to take place on December 14 on 15 seats of the state.   A total of 43,48,709 eligible voters which includes 23,42,954 male voters and 20,03, 516 female voters would decide the fate of 217 candidates which includes 201 male and 16 female candidates.   ‘Out of the 15 seats that are going into polls, three seats are reserved for scheduled caste while the remaining 12 are general category seats,’ State’s Chief Electoral Officer P K jajoria here said.

The seats on which polling will be held in the fourth phase includes Madhupur, Deoghar (SC) , Bagodar, Jamua (SC), Gandey , Giridih, Dumri, Bokaro , Chandankiyari (SC) , Sindri , Nirsa , Dhanbad , Jharia, Tundi and Baghmara.   ‘Voting on 13 out of these 15 seats will be held on December 14 from 0700hrs to 1500hrs, however on two seats Dhanbad and Bokaro voting would continue from 0700hrs to 1700hrs as Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) system has been put into place,’ he said.

The voters will be able to exercise their franchise on 5, 482 booths including 36 auxiliary polling booths. Among these 716 polling booths have been declared very sensitive while another 2,007 have been declared sensitive.           The election commission has declared 183 polling stations as model polling stations while web casting facility would be available on 335 polling stations.

Approximately 27, 410 polling personnel would be deployed for poll duties during the fourth phase.   The total number of candidates contesting in Madhupur is 14, Deoghar 12, Bagodar 14, Jamua 10, Gandey 18, Giridih 13, Dumri 16, Bokaro 28, Chandankiyari 10, Sindri 21, Nirsa 11, Dhanbad 12, Jharia 14, Tundi 10 and Baghmara 14.
