Canal Road residents frame body, highlight grievances

JAMMU, Aug 8: Akhnoor Road (Canal Road) residents constituted a body during a meeting and highlighted burning problems being faced by them.
A large number of residents participated in the meeting during which they formed a body under the name and style ‘Canal Road Residents Welfare Association’ (CRRWA) to address the various issues being faced by the residents of the area.
The newly formed body comprised of Prem Dewan as president, Sanjay Aggarwal as senior vice president, Surinder Singh Nayyar as vice president, Nandan Kuthiala as general secretary, Siddharth Bhatia as secretary and Daljit Singh Khurana as treasurer.
The meeting impressed upon the Government for early start of widening project of Jammu- Akhnoor road in view of the current traffic scenario, restoring traffic of 4th Tawi bridge and widening of its approach road passing through Bhagwati Nagar to ease traffic problem, providing sewerage and drainage facility in the area which has been neglected till now, ensuring regular power supply and proper street lightening and making mechanism for garbage removal by the municipality on regular basis,
The residents also urged Jammu Municipal Corporation for removal of numerous stray dogs seen in the walk way area which not only create big nuisance but also pose threat to passersby, as there have been many incidents of dog biting in the past which were brought to the notice of the municipality.
