JAMMU, Dec 24: Sangarsh RTI Movement demanded cancellation of allotment of fair price shops opened in health institutions.
Addressing a press conference, Balvinder Singh, RTI Activist and Convener, Sangarsh RTI Movement said that these so-called fair price shops opened in the health institutions including in GMC Jammu, SMGS Hospital Jammu, Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar are not giving any discount and are making huge profit.
“Some shops in the market are giving 5 to 10 per cent discount on the purchase of medicines, but these fair price shops in the health institutions are just indulged in minting money from the people”, he alleged.
Singh added that if medical shops in open market can give 15 per cent discount on general medicines and upto 40 per cent on surgical items, then what is the fun of these fair price shops in the health institutions as they don’t give any discount to the people.
He urged Health Minister to invite national tenders for proving discounted medicines to the people of the State and follow a very transparent tendering process.
Among others present were Deepak Sharma and Raman Sharma, RTI activists, Ravi Razdan, Mahesh Singh Kotwal, Manmohan Singh, Ayaz Ahmad Khan, etc.
