Cancer patient hangs self

JAMMU, July 20: A middle-aged man, who was suffering from cancer, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital here today.
As per reports, 45-year-old Shanker Lal, son of Jagan Nath, resident of Madhya Pradesh, at present living at Gadigarh, was found hanging at back side of the canteen at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital, this morning.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted him to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where doctors pronounced him as brought dead.
The deceased was reportedly suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment at SMGS Hospital, which might have forced him to take an extreme step.
The body has been handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case has been registered at Police Post, SMGS Hospital and investigations are in progress.
