Srinagar, Sept 16:  The candidates who appeared in an examination for Assistant Engineer (Civil) conducted by Public Service Commission (PSC) alleged that 14 questions in the answer key were wrong and sought re-examination, saying it violates the criteria.
The PSC recently conducted the examination for 152 posts of Assistant Engineers in various departments including Roads and Buildings (R&B) and Rural Development Department. A total of 3, 000 candidates appeared in the examination.
However, a group of candidates told Excelsior that there were 120 questions in the paper and 14 of them were wrong as per the answer key. “As per criteria, if more than 10 percent answers are wrong in the answer then there should be re-examination,” the candidates said.
The candidates said that they have enough reasons to believe that there was paper leakage”.
Seeking re-examination, the candidates appealed the PSC to constitute a panel which would look into the matter. “They need to look into all aspects and conduct re-examination,” the candidates added.
When contacted, a top official of the PSC told Excelsior that they fixed three days period for the candidates to send representations regarding their claims and today was the last day.
“We will consolidate them to get this (allegations and claims of candidates) verified. We do have received some representations from candidates,” he said. The official said that as per the procedure of the PSC, they will look into the matter. “We have our procedures. Our officials would look into the matter at different levels,” he said.
