JAMMU, Dec 2: Demanding fair probe into the mysterious death of young Akshay Verma, whose body was found lying on Railway track at Channi Rama on September 24, the parents and many children of the area today took out a candle light procession in Ploura area of the city here this evening.
These children carrying burning candles in hands were demanding justice for the parents who lost their only 25-year-old son. The children were also carrying a large photograph of Akshay besides placards demanding probe into the case by Special Investigation Team under the guidance of State Police Chief. After passing through several adjoining localities, the torch light procession for justice culminated near the residence of Late Verma.
Talking to the Excelsior, Subhash Verma, father of the deceased disclosed that police was just dragging feet and was trying to shield the shady role of his some influential friends. He said on the late evening of September 23, his friend-Arya Jain (24), son of Pankaj Jain and grand son of Shanker Shah, came to their residence and took Akshay with him, claiming that there was party at their residence at Karan Nagar (Manda) and both left at around 8 pm in Arya’s car. Later, it was established that there was no party at all at their residence. He was taken to a house in Gandhinagar and some more boys were there.
Mr Verma said his wife contacted Akshay at around 9.15 pm as they started their routine dinner. Akshay told that he had not taken anything and was with Arya in Gandhinagar area and would arrive early in the morning at home. But next morning his body was found at rail track under mysterious circumstances. Mr Verma said police investigations also indicated that one Palak Gandotra, daughter of a retired JDA officer was also there in the party. What ever, happened that took place only in that house and it was clear case of murder. There was no weight in the claim of Aryan that he dropped Akshay in the morning near Best Price at Pata Ploura Puli despite the fact that their residence is about one and half kilometer away from that point. His bones were found fractured in postmortem but face was clear.
The parents alleged that police was trying to shield the killers and denying justice to the family. The hapless parents made an appeal to the Chief Minister and DG Police to constitute Special Investigation Team to solve the mystery and bring the killers of Akshay Verma to justice.
