NEW DELHI:
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is capable of thwarting Pulwama type of attack at airports in the country, Director General of CISF Rajiv Ranjan said here on Thursday.
Addressing the annual press conference here, Mr Ranjan said that we are fully prepared to deal with those kind of threats on airports and the security of the airports have been re-calibrated as per the need arises either from the mock drills or some specific intelligence inputs.
Responding to a question to drones specially on the border airports, the CISF DG said we are first to respond in case of an unknown drone and we have the specific Standard Operative Procedure (SoP). I cannot share the operative details but in any case, we would be first to respond in case of appearance of drone on airports.
Answering to the query on two highjack threats for Delhi airport recently, Mr Ranjan said they (CISF) often get non-specific inputs, sometimes by a disturbed mind or otherwise, We have an SoP and we strictly follow it to deal with those situations.
For the last two threat we will not be able to share whether it was a specific input or otherwise, The CISF DG said.
He also informed the media that three Indian airports have achieved first place in three categories and second place in one category by the Montreal based ‘Airport Council International (ACI).
The ACI provides the world’s leading airport customer satisfaction benchmark programme covering over 340 airports in more than 85 countries.
