CAPD dealer among 3 booked for black-marketing sugar

KISHTWAR, Sept 30: Police today booked three persons including a dealer of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department for black-marketing sugar, which was meant for public distribution in Thakrai area.
As per police sources, on reliable information regarding black-marketing of sugar meant for public distribution, police party from Kishtwar police station conducted raid in Thakrai area and seized four quintals of sugar, which was meant for public distribution.
On seeing police team, the accused managed to escape from the spot taking advantage of the thick maize crop.
A case FIR number 169/15 under Section 409 RPC and 3/7 Essential Commodity Act was registered at police station Kishtwar and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, it came to fore that three persons including a CAPD dealer were involved in this illegal practice. The accused have been identified as Nek Ram (CAPD dealer), son of Chand Ram of Pakalan Thakrai, Manzoor Ahmed Lone (shopkeeper), Ghulam Rasool Lone of Sheikpura Sarawan Thakrai and Chaman Lal (shopkeepers), son of Paras Ram of Sarawan Thakrai.
All the accused are absconding and police have launched manhunt to trace and arrest them.
Police team led by SHO Kishtwar Inspector Sameer Jeelani conducted the raid and seized the sugar under the supervision of SP Kishtwar Yougal Manhas.
