JAMMU, Sept 12: The Consumer Affairs Department has booked 36 traders and charged Rs 42000 fine from them for violation of provisions of Essential Commodities Act.
A CA&PD team headed by Atam Dev Singh, Deputy Director (Supplies) Jammu conducted 100 inspections in the areas of Gurha Bakshi Nagar, Old Rehari, Sarwal, Janipur, Nehru Market Ware House, Green Belt Park, Gole Market Gandhi Nagar and Channi Himmat and booked 36 traders.
They were on the spot charged Rs.42000 fine for violation of various provisions of Essential Commodities Act, which includes non- display of rate lists, over charging and use of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes etc.
The team warned all commercial establishments against violation of the provisions contained under Essential Commodities Act. They were told to adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time and display rate lists, not to indulge in over charging or misuse of domestic LPG Cylinders for commercial purpose.
