CAPD Deptt team inspects 125 establishments, fines violators

JAMMU, Sept 23: One hundred and twenty five shops and establishments dealing in meat, chicken, bar and restaurants, halwais, provision stores, Karyana shops, dhabas etc in different parts of Jammu city inspected by two teams of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department Jammu which were constituted by of Director CA&PD Department Jammu, G S Chib, on the directions of the CA&PD Department Minister, Chowdhary Zulfiqar Ali.
One team was headed by Deputy Directors (Supplies) Atam Dev Singh and Syed Khan along with area inspectors Rajinder Kumar, Raman Kumar, Subash Chander, P P Singh and Vishwa Mittar while the other team was headed by Assistant Director Mumtaz  Mirza along with area inspectors Dewan Singh, Yogesh Kumar and Puneet Kumar.
The shops were inspected at Gujjar Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Panama Chowk,Transport Nagar, Narwal, Bhatindi, Sunjwan, Malik Market, Bagh-e-Bahu, Sidhra etc and booked 38 defaulters and recovered a fine of Rs 44,500 on the spot for violation of various provisions of Essential Commodities Act, viz non-display of rate lists, over-charging, use of domestic LPG cylinders for commercial purposes etc.
The commercial establishments were warned not to violate the provisions contained under EC Act and adhere to the norms and rates notified from time to time.
